Growing up, we never realized how influential pickles would be in our lives. In 2006, using our great grandmother Lala’s recipe, we started McClure’s Pickles after years of making pickles in our tiny Michigan kitchen. We learned how to make the pickles from our grandfather and parents and now we continue the tradition with a bit more room. We make the pickles, relish, mustard and other McClure’s products just outside of Detroit, Michigan and in Brooklyn, New York. We use as much local produce as possible when it is in season and when it’s not, we call up the farms and speak directly with the growers to know where our produce is coming from and how it is being grown making sure we are getting some of the best, freshest produce available. Every jar is hand packed, the cucumbers hand sliced, and our labels, printed by Rolling Press, use soy and vegetables inks with chemical-free plating and are created with wind-powered electricity. We’re happy that after so many years, we can bring our family recipe, to yours.
If you have any questions, thoughts or comments, send us an email and we will get back to you as soon as we can. To find out where McClure’s products are sold, click on our Locations page or view our Buy page.
Thanks,
Joe, Bob, and the McClure family

Joe lives in Detroit, MI and is in his last semester of completing a doctoral degree in physiology. His work has been published in The American Journal of Physiology. He is also a classical musician and, of course, a pickle maker. He oversees large-scale production, Midwest distribution and sales, as well as a number of other major tasks. Joe has lived in Hawaii and Tennessee (strikingly similar). He has just discovered the joys of using a pizza stone, enjoys running, and watching NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts.

Bob is an actor, comedy writer and pickle maker living in Brooklyn, NY. He splits his time between Detroit and Brooklyn. In Brooklyn, he manages new product development, east coast distribution, small batch production and a lot of other things from…driving the delivery van to carting bushels of cucumbers upstairs to their shared commercial kitchen at 4:30am. Represented by Abrams Artists, and has shot commercials for: Verizon, Time Warner, Staples, Quiznos amongst others and has appeared in films such as Neil Jordan’s The Brave One with Jodie Foster. Currently, his work can be seen on The Burg (theburg.tv) and All’s Faire (allsfaire.tv).
Bob enjoys creating new recipes in the lab, running, getting stuck on the Williamsburg bridge during the Brian Lehrer show and most of all, being able to work alongside his brother Joe and parents Mike and Jennifer McClure.

Mike McClure

Mike (a.k.a. Dad) is a twenty-five + year veteran of the grocery and mass retail industries. Various management positions in store operations, advertising, sales and marketing, transportation and logistics, general maintenance and the love of food and cooking are what make him an invaluable member of the McClure’s team. “Dad” semi-retired in 2006 to assist Bob and Joe in their endeavors with the business. However, he learned (always knew) that his sons were light years ahead of him as is attributed in the success and growth of McClure’s Pickles. For over 30 years Mike has always liked to…and still does…. “put ‘em in the jar” everyday.
Jennifer McClure

Jennifer (a.k.a. Mom) started making this recipe around the age of five with her father and has been canning ever since. She won 1st place at the Michigan State Fair in the 1970’s for her corn relish and she jokes that the reason Mike married her was for the pickle recipe. After thirty-seven years of marriage, she may let him know the real recipe. Jennifer holds a degree in gerontology and is currently completing a course in Master Gardening. She is also a licensed massage therapist with a number of clients throughout the metro-Detroit area. She handles all things pickle-related from putting garlic and dill into the jars to putting elbows into backs.
